Stockmore Street Oxford Progress

This year has seen us continue the EnerPHit (passive house retrofit) project at Stockmore Street – Oxford. The team have been working hard to insulate and double membrane all the ceilings, walls and floors in every room with a breathable membrane and then an airtight membrane to stop create an airtight envelope to aid towards minimising heat loss. The rooms are then battened out for services before being tacked and ready for skimming. The U values achieved with the high levels of insulation are very high, with this projects intent on reaching or being close to EnerPHit standards (intent due to budget constraints – but the design and construction team believes these standard will be met).

Ducting has been installed into each room for the mechanical ventilation with heat recovery to allow heat recovery from used air and transfers it to the fresh air coming in.

GRP (fiberglass) has been used on the roof and we are awaiting the anthracite aluminium coping to fit over the Parapet wall which not only provide water proofing of the parapet but also compliment the beautiful reclaimed brickwork on the new double extension.

A new bespoke staircase has been installed which was a challenge for the joinery team due to the unusual angles of this 1800’s Victorian property but the team overcame the challenges and the client is very happy with the end result.

We are also working on the neighbouring property, which is specified more traditionally, where the first fix electrics and plumbing has been completed and all the stud walls have been set out with pocket doors installed to save space.

This property has also had a new staircase fitted which thankfully was fit into a location with walls set to 90 degrees which was a lot more straight forward than next door and equally we have another happy client.

Now the weather is getting a bit warmer and hopefully staying dry we will be finishing off the two flat roofs with GRP and making it water tight. Again, installing anthracite aluminium coping over the parapet to make it water tight.

The doors and windows by Origin will be arriving on site in the next two weeks which will start to make the building look like a home.

Also this week, Carma UK Construction won two new tenders in and around Oxford with mid February start. It’s looking like its going to be another busy year with lots of exciting projects in the pipeline.

We look forward to supporting our existing and new architects to deliver beautiful projects professional managed and crafted for their clients.
